Arua District Launches shs. 280 million road network upgrade

Arua district has officially launched the rehabilitation of 3 roads totaling to 22.5 kilometer. The project valued at 280 million shillings aims to improve infrastructure, security and boost economic activity within Arua District. Mr. Olea Herbert the Ag. District Engineer said the selection of the roads was based on their current condition, which roads are; - Anguru- Ejupala road (7.5 kilometers) - Anguza – Kaza road (8 kilometers) - Nyio-Alaa (7 kilometers) The three-month project was launched on Friday, 21st March 2025 by the Arua District RDC Mr. Toko Shuaib at Pajuru. During the launch, the RDC advised the community to provide the engineers with utmost security and thank the NRM government for the provision of these social services that are meant to improve their access to markets, schools and hospitals. “The people of Arua District have always voted for the NRM government and this government has in return given money for rehabilitation of these roads, so that you achieve the socio-economic transformation we all wish for. The Deputy DISO, Mr. Duncan urged the L.C.1 chairpersons of the benefitting villages to be close to the engineering department and provide them security in line of their operation. “I encourage the local community to be vigilant and also take part in the supervision of the project so that the quality of work is to the desired standard”, added Duncan The LC5 chairman, Mr. Alfred Okuonzi thanked the local community for the cooperation and patience exhibited as they waited for the rehabilitation project. He further encouraged them to always demand for social services from the government since they are loyal taxpayers. The project is funded by the central government under the Uganda Road Fund.
